Recommendations For The Top Rated Best Underlever Air Rifles

Browning Leverage Air Rifle

Browning Leverage Lever Action Air Rifle

Are you looking for an air rifle that’s easy to shoot, accurate and built on a rock-solid platform? At a time when advertising has become fierce and often deceptive, Browning has basically released its Leverage Air rifle with no promotion at all. But this isn’t your average $200 rifle, as is clearly evidenced by its features:

  • Two-stage adjustable trigger
  • Weaver/Picatinny Rail
  • Fiber optic sights
  • Ventilated butt pad
  • Automatic safety

But these aren’t the only reasons why this rifle has won the hearts of even the most conservative air gunners out there.

Pros

  • Powerful: The .22 and .177 caliber versions of this rifle are rated at 800 and 1000 FPS respectively, which makes them ideal for small-game hunting and target shooting.
  • A high-quality scope that produces bright, crystal-clear images, even when shooting from a distance.
  • Long-range accuracy: Having witnessed how this rifle maintains its accuracy at long distances, a good number of users have come to the conclusion that the Leverage’s downrange precision is similar to that offered by PCP rifles.
  • Built to last: The wood platform upon which the rifle is built should make it last significantly longer than other models in its price range.

Cons

  • The awkward location of the breech means the scope might get in your way as you load the pellets
  • You might need to practice shooting for some time before the rifle hits peak performance

Basically, the Browning Leverage Air Rifle doesn’t seem to get as much attention as it deserves. Not only is it well-designed, powerful and accurate, but it also sells for an unbelievably low price tag.

In fact, some sources have suggested that it could become very hard to find once word about its stellar value gets out.

Daisy 753S Match Grade Avanti

Daisy 753S Match Grade Avanti Air Rifle

The Daisy 753S Match Grade Avanti is a mid-tier pellet rifle with full length stock. It’s a single stroke pneumatic air rifle that packs a punch without the high price tag.

It comes from the brand that is known for quality and reliability when it comes to BB and pellet guns. Daisy has been making guns for many years and this iconic company is one you can trust.

Features

Features of the Match Grade include a high-grade lothar walther rifled steel barrel with 12 lands and grooves, raised cheek piece, pneumatic with single stroke cocking, adjustable trigger pull length, and exceptional balance.

Pros

This gun was made for competition shooters. It’s got the power and the accuracy for a pro to take it right out of the box and use it for competition shooting. The trigger pull is adjustable from 12 to 13.75 inches which is nice. This gun is extremely accurate. With very little sighting in I was able to achieve 1 inch groupings.

Cons

The accuracy is first rate however the finish of the gun leaves a little to be desired. Although I’ve heard that some rifles out of the box were ready to shoot (I have a friends that was), mine was not. Sights were way off when I first opened it and it took some doing to get them in the right location so I could achieve the accuracy I wanted. Once they are set though, the gun is super accurate.

Overall the Daisy 753S Match Grade Avanti is a great rifle for the competition shooter. For the price you can’t really get a better gun for any cheaper. The trigger is ok and as long as you get one out of the box that doesn’t need too much work on the sights, you should be golden.

Diana Mauser K98 Air Rifle

Diana Mauser K98 Air Rifle

History buffs and war aficionados will rejoice with this Diana Mauser K98 Air Rifle. It has all the ease of use of today’s modern technology, but it is packed into a very retro package in the Mauser K98 frame.

Features

A very ergonomic build this weapon was meant to fit in the pocket of a shoulder with ease and prolonged periods of use. It may have been one of the worst adversarial tools the allies had to overcome in World War II. There is plenty of fun to be had with this powerful firearm right from the first shot fired.

This is a war buff’s dream with the look and feel of the actual weapon used by the Germans in World War II. The hardwood stock is strong and polishes up nice. A rifled 18 inch barrel puts this weapon at 44 inches total in length.

Pros

It is not too weighty either at 9.5 pounds total. The sights are adjustable for windage and elevation in the rear, and an 11 mm dovetail rail allows for the use of a scope with it which many people find agreeable. The real essence of beauty in this gun is the two stage adjustable trigger that has an underlever 36 pound cocking action.

The 36 pound action is a bit rough for some, but this is a weapon designed for war that could not have a trigger or hammer malfunction in the middle of battle. It is a single shot spring-piston that generates 1150 FPS on the shot and a good bit of noise.

For any collector of fine weaponry the Diana Mauser K98 Air Rifle is a must have. It’s a strong example of German engineering and a great shooter. It can be kept in great condition without putting in massive amounts of time and energy.

It is also a solid firearm to have for any hunter that does not like to have fancy firearms. This is a solid no frills weapon.

Cons

That being stated, the lack of a front sight of modern design does make some users dislike the overall feel of the gun. A scope on this weapon easily fixes most people’s issues though. This weapon is a little more pricey than some as well, but is not marketed for the new shooter.

It can send your ammo flying at 1.200 feet per second. The massive power comes from a spring piston mechanism. You can only fire a single shot at a time so be mindful of your aim as there is small room for error when hunting.

  • Top side loading port
  • Classic stock
