Our Recommendations For The Top Rated Big Bore Air Rifles

Evanix Sniper X2 Air Rifle

Evanix Sniper X2 45 Cal Air Rifle

Are you looking for an air rifle with great long-range accuracy and high velocity? Then you’ll want to take a closer look at the Evanix Sniper X2 Air Rifle, a new model from a company renowned for their innovative yet highly reliable products.

This is a gun that promises to take hunting to the next level not for its name or close resemblance to real sniper rifles, but for a handful of clever features and customization options.

Features

  • 2-stage adjustable trigger for improved consistency and accuracy.
  • Horizontally adjustable buttstock whose length ranges from 41 to 46 inches.
  • Finger grooves and textured grip for a firmer grasp while in action.
  • Built-in suppressor and air pressure gauge.
  • Chambered in .302, .45, and .9mm calibers to take bigger game.
  • Accessory rail.

Pros

  • The belly-mounted pressure gauge makes it easy to see how much air one has without taking their eyes off the target
  • The big bore gun’s buttstock and grip can both be re-positioned to satisfy different preferences
  • High accuracy over long distances
  • Ambidextrous stock and adjustable cheek piece for both right- and left-handed shooters

Cons

  • The trigger is a bit heavier than most people would prefer
  • The X-2’s design makes it hard to develop proper cheek weld and technique, especially if you have no previous experience with guns having a similar stock
  • The gun’s appearance doesn’t go well with individuals who prefer wooden stocks and traditional looks. This could make it somewhat difficult to get a decent resale price if you plan to sell yours later on.

The Evanix Sniper X2 Air Rifle goes for around $1300, a figure that prices out a significant percentage of the market. This, however, shouldn’t be much of a problem, since it’s not a gun targeted towards beginners.

If you’re a seasoned hunter, on the other hand, there’s certainly a great deal of fun to be had with this rifle, as long as you can comfortably tame its features.

AirForce Texan Big Bore Air Rifle

AirForce Texan Big Bore Air Rifle

Truly an innovation in the hunting industry the AirForce Texan Big Bore Air Rifle is a powerful and deadly accurate weapon.

Features

This deadly and retro styled firearm features three different barrel sizes to accommodate .357, .308, and .45 caliber rounds. This is an immaculately designed weapon that has stopping power coming from all ends.

With an ambidextrous synthetic stock and a lightweight frame it is easy to store, carry, and use. This is a single shot sidelever action weapon with a low effort cocking mechanism for taking down larger game than squirrels.

The AirForce Texan Big Bore Air Rifle offers three different variations of their 24 inch barrel as mentioned earlier. Sadly, they are not interchangeable barrels due to different pressures and variations in the chamber.

However, all these firearms offer the same quality and dependability that can be expected with any AirForce firearm. The ergonomic design makes it feel great in the user’s hands and the stock fits both left and right handed shooters. An easy mover at only 8 pounds and 48 inches in total length this gun will not slow anyone down when taking it out in the wilderness.

There is also an adjustable power setting and pressure relief device to keep it firing perfectly every time. It fires at speeds of up to 1100 FPS and has 500 foot pounds of energy behind it.

With a two stage adjustable trigger and open but customizable sights with the ability to attach a scope this is a great buy for all interested gamesmen.

Pros

The best parts about this weapon is the ruggedness and durability coupled with the lightweight versatility. Along with the significant stopping power that this weapon features it holds a certain charm and appeal making it look irresistible to want to hold and shoot.

The ease of use is easy to see in the overall design especially in the trigger and sidelever action.

Cons

One small issue is that the barrels cannot be transferred from one to the other. That would make this a supremely elite weapon to own, but does not hurt the value of this gun in the least.

That being said, there is precious little else to complain about with this firearm. It could be a little better than a single-shot gun, but this is a very liveable feature.

Seneca (Sam Yang) Big Bore 44 909S Light Hunter Air Rifle

Seneca Sam Yang Big Bore 44 909S Light Hunter Air Rifle

The Seneca (previously known as Sam Yang) Big Bore 44 909 air rifle is a .45 caliber air rifle that fires pellets at up to 730fps (feet per second). It is definitely one of the sharpest looking air rifles on the market with a contoured wooden stock and integrated double barrel.

Features

The Seneca Big Bore is a pre-charged pneumatic rifle so it is super convenient and easy to use. Aside from that, other features include a sensitive bolt action cocking mechanism, rifled steel barrel, 244cc air reservoir, max air pressure of 3000psi (pounds per square inch), an 11mm scope, 2 power levels, raised cheek piece, and wooden stock.

Pros

The benefits of this rifle are that it is light weight, has smaller air volume (easier to fill), and it can be tuned to get more power out of the single tube. It can also be used to for larger hunting jobs like on deer.

Cons

The trigger on this rifle is extremely heavy to pull. You really have to reef on it to get it to move. That doesn’t seem like a big deal until you try and do some precision shooting. Then it can become very hard to hit stuff.

Another drawback is the cocking handle. It is attached to the bolt action with a single 4 millimeter screw which is super weak. Cocking it you can feel that it might not last a long time before the screw or entire mechanism needs to be replaced.

Overall the Seneca Big Bore 44 909 air rifle a superb rifle. It’s a bit of an investment compared to a lot of other rifles but you’ll know where the money went as soon as you fire it. This is also a high-quality and long lasting gun.

Hatsan BT Big Bore Carnivore QE Air Rifle

Hatsan BT Big Bore Carnivore QE Air Rifle

Looking to join the ranks of air guns, but do not know where to start. The Hatsan BT Big Bore Carnivore QE Air Rifle is the perfect starter gun for any sportsman. Unlike other air rifles this is a big bore rifle meaning it fires a round larger than .25 caliber, and this is a new and growing market in the air rifle industry.

This is not the most flashy or extra special gun on the market, but it gets the job done as well as any of the other more expensive firearms that are out there.

Features

The bare-bones design is done very well and makes it far less complicated to maintain. A max velocity around 880 FPS make this a little light on power comparatively, but still more than enough to take down medium sized prey of all kinds.

Adding to that, this weapon is delightfully accurate. At forty yards this weapon shot a half inch grouping. The trigger is a Quattro trigger and as smooth as silk when operating. It is able to be fully adjusted in both stages making it a really nice touch to a basic no frills firearm. The bolt action is a little short, and hard to operate, but it can be locked in the open position to take magazines which is a nice feature as well.

Despite the QE standing for quiet energy this weapon is anything but. Although that is not usually a big issue. There are no sights mounted on this weapon standard, but there are custom made rails for attaching a scope of decent value.

Pros

There is a lot of upside to the Hatsan BT Big Bore Carnivore QE Air Rifle. Mainly, the price range. This gun comes with a variety of attachments right away as well most notably the sling. A solid shooter with the streamlined design make it easy to use, store, and maintain as well as being a fine piece to add to any collection.

Cons

The main knock on this weapon is the bolt action is much too short leading to a lot of pinched fingers and bad words being said. Other than that the complete lack of iron sights can turn some “true shooters” off to it, but this is a fantastic firearm for any shooter to own.
